Known as one of the toughest taskmasters when it comes to training the new generation, few young samurai enjoy learning under Zanji’s strict guidance. Yet, even a simple nod or a rare smile from him is enough to inspire them to push harder and fight with greater intensity. Though the years of enduring harsh conditions—sleeping in the rain and enduring poor nutrition—have worn down his skill, Zanji still possesses a level of mastery that would make even the finest blademasters marvel at the artistry of his counterstrikes.
The Virtue system for the Shiho is largely rooted in the old survivors of the Battle of Sagoya. Some Shiho have the Virtue trait, while others benefit from new Virtue effects, allowing for a wide array of buffs for the more affordable Shiho samurai.
Zanji also introduces a new mechanic that all the older samurai share. He provides a unique option within the Guerilla Warfare theme, offering more strategic flexibility and making the Shiho even more unpredictable in battle.
