Akita left her small village to seek her fortune in Jima. Like many who do so, she found she had no unique gifts to offer and worked a regular job for the Syndicate in the gambling houses. Expecting much more and seeing the wealth of the patrons and her employers, she constantly asked for more moons, holidays and special treatment. The other workers started calling her “Princess” to suit her lofty ambitions and lack of desire to work toward them. Akita has three Ki Feats, which form the core of her profile. Terror-inducing Performance is not going to be present in every game. It is a niche use feat, but its effects can be devastating when it has a use. In Bushido, it’s always best to de-buff enemies as much as possible before going in forthe kill, and this Ki Feat allows you to double up on Melee Dice penalties. The Fate Cannot be Cheated Ki feat has two great uses and may not be usable every game. Still, it is very powerful in the right situation, and using it on a friendly model means your model is immune to the effects of Dodge and Feint traits and other Ki Feats or effects that force them to re-roll. Alternatively, using on an enemy can nullify things like Prowess, Hotai’s Coin and Luck Tokens. Destiny’s Fear, however, is a Ki Feat that can be devastating every time. With enough Kumo, you can make any poisoned model fail at almost every test they make. Even the most powerful melee model will struggle to survive against even the least of the Kumo. The potential for this feat is enormous and well worth the high Ki cost… if you can amass the 5 ki in the first place.
Mio is consumed by a relentless obsession with finding beauty. However, her twisted nature means that what she deems beautiful is often repulsive to most others. She can spend hours gazing at a tormented kami or a tortured human, finding fascination in their suffering. Mio also devotes long hours to crafting intricate and elaborate webs, so much so that she sometimes appears as though she could be a Betana herself.
In combat, Mio possesses solid Melee skills with a Melee Pool of three and the ability to poison her foes. The ever-present Strong trait also serves her well, as it does for most Kumo. But it's her Scuttle and Agility Ki Feats that make her particularly dangerous when it comes to executing Scenario Actions. She can maneuver into critical positions with ease, and once there, she’s difficult to remove, proving herself invaluable as she completes her objectives.
From the dark corners of the Jwar Isles emerges Obasan, the oldest of Mura’s children—now far removed from her humanity. As her mortal features faded, so too did her kindness and morality. Yet, in her own twisted way, she still “cares” for her Family, welcoming new members into her brood.
